You’ll notice that, in most cases, the other nine results will be very similar to the page you originally found (in the Best by Links report).
1. If your domain was previously used for purposes that Google frowns upon, then you might have inherited the bad track record (and be blacklisted) - and can't rank it well now.
Often, this process can highlight low-quality pages on a site. Good read and thanks for the ideas. One quick question though : How do you spot these influencers in the general entertainment / viral content niche? It seems like these type of sites just post their content online and try to get it viral rather than ranking it on the big G.
The “Content” filter is pretty useful—it filters for links that appear in the main content of the page. Right now, it’s not possible to add “content” and “dofollow” filters simultaneously in the Backlinks report. But if you do want to do this, try filtering by “content” backlinks only, exporting the data, then filtering by dofollow-only links in Excel or Google Sheets.
Stat Analytics, SerpWoo, SEMrush and Authority Labs are all great in terms of 3rd party tools. That said, they all have the same key limitation, in that they’re looking at one moment in time from one location/IP. Since SERPs change all the time, not just position but content, features, etc., those brief (usually once a week) snapshots in time don’t show you the full picture.
It proves that people are linking out in your niche—some niches are super-reluctant to link out; if your competitors can get links, it means there are links to be had. (Unless they’re just buying links, of course).
Also, make sure to look at their guidelines for what they allow to be posted. Some subreddits will only let you submit text, others will let links but no personal blog posts, and so on. Follow the rules and you won’t get banned.
Use the right anchor text. Using our previous example: if you wanted to internally link to the “how to make money” blog post, you can write a sentence in another blog, like “Once you have mastered [how to make money], you can enjoy as much luxury as you can dream.” In this case, the reader has a compelling case for clicking on the link because of both the anchor text (“how to make money”) and the context of the sentence. There is a clear benefit from clicking the link.
Thanks for the comment, Toby! ensure redirected domains redirect through a canonical redirect and this too has any chains minimised, although BE SURE to audit the backlink profile for any redirects you point at a page as with reward comes punishment if those backlinks are toxic (another example of Google opening up the war that is technical seo on a front that isn’t, and in fact is converse, to building backlinks to your site).
HotJar Heat Maps I am just wondering; for lower competition niches/keywords a 3rd tier certainly isn’t needed? Which social messages are sent immediately after publishing content? For which platforms?

Avec l'introduction des backlinks, il n'est plus possible de faire l'impasse sur ces nouvelles notions.

Google wants quality raters to examine subpages of your site and often “the URL of its associated homepage” so ensure your homepage is modern, up to date, informative and largely ON TOPIC with your internal pages.
