Search engines index billions of web pages, from different domain names, IP addresses, locations and so on. And, these web pages are owned by different people. That’s interconnectivity at work.
Some SEO would tend to scrape Google to get indexation data on a website. I’ve never bothered with that. Most sites I work with have XML sitemap files, so an obvious place to start to look at such issues is Google Search Console.

The thing is that the amount of links that tool can build will usually (most of the time) be way too many for a local business site (client SEO). Even pretty competitive local SEO usually only calls for maybe 50 to 300 links. It is certainly good advice to steer people doing local SEO away from powerhouse tools.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for he comment. I have one question about blog comments though. TASK – Assign in-depth content to an author with some online authority, or someone with displayable expertise on the subject
Thanks for this article. I’m more educated on back-links. I just started a blog and want very much to make sure I don’t use bad back-linking . With my few posts I currently have, I link to good websites that are relevant to my niche. I try to use when appropriate. I also use them to give those authors credit because I am learning from them and others can too. Overall I just dont want to be another website that is tacky and its sole purpose it to generate traffic.
You can steal links from both types, but the approach will be different for each. Well, it does if the page you make is useful and has a purpose other than just to make money.

Thanks for the email link to the article! Great info and I’m printing it out to use as a guide. Let’s rejoin the 21st century for the next method: One of the best tools for measuring and analyzing website traffic is Google Analytics. It is extremely powerful and if you don’t already have it installed, it is highly recommended you do so as soon as possible.
User Groups This example illustrates a key to ‘relevance’ on a page, in a lot of instances, is a keyword. Don’t pay for links, participate in link schemes, or attempt to game the system in any other way.
Great piece of content.I came here and it changed my mind completely. For those niches where writing long content is not possible. There is less chance of getting earned backlinks. I have seen many websites in the past 2years have been living with pure blackhat technique.i wonder how they manage it?
February 12, 2015 at 8:43 pm Hi Brian, i am running an academic site that requires students’ and tutors’ traffic for conversion purposes as those are actually the target clients. How do I go about marketing it since there aren’t specific influencers. I just need a good rank online and converting traffic. Thank You
What is interesting to me is that knowing this leaves you with a question. If your navigation array has your main pages linked to in it, perhaps your links in content are being ignored, or at least, not valued.
