Franchise Home So I saw a launch a couple months ago by a fellow who grew his list to 80,000 people for free who basically made a video and SENuked it a couple times. What have you seen with that kind of aggressive approach? Link sharing parties are where a ton of people get together (virtually, of course) and all link to each other’s websites. It’s not such a big deal when there are only a couple of you involved, but if you can get 100 people or so to join in, a link party can really increase your number of backlinks. Happy to help, Emily 🙂 What have you experienced when it comes to generating traffic without having to rely on search engines? Latest Articles Write For Us Clipping Path February 7, 2014 at 12:59 pm Miranda Paquet Waouh ! So after a bit of brainstorming… I enjoy reading this stuff about dealing with search engines. All of you make it sound so mysterious. I own a small seasonal service business, and I have a lot of competition. I’ve been advertising on Google and Yahoo for years, spending thousands of dollars. When a business has considerable competition you soon learn that not everyone can be on the first page for your top keywords. So the search engines rotate the listings so everyone gets a shot at page one. They also regionalize searches. I live in the Midwest so my site won’t show up in a southern or western region. I know this to be true by conversations with friends who live in Arizona and Florida who tell me they can only find my site by typing in the name of the business. I also notice that my positioning in the natural searches is better every other year. This is my down year so I must spend more advertising money to get noticed. So far, I’ve spent more money at Yahoo than Google. Currently, I’m on page one at Yahoo and page three at Google. I think all this business about links, relevant content and page optimizing is pure bunk for someone in my category. I have one product and competition is fierce. Bottom line is this – every calculation the search engines make is geared toward increasing profits and no matter what you do to your website you must do one thing and that’s spend money. Everything else is speculation. Googgle and Yahoo engine4ers must laught like crasy when they ready this stuff. A not insignificant segment of your audience would rather watch a video, or listen to a podcast, or simply download a book and read it at their leisure than read an entire post online. All in Video & Animation greg says: Thanks for the great post as always! I especially liked the part about share triggers, and let’s face the truth here. As you said, most of the blogs online struggle with obtaining traffic. I can also tell you: the very first 2 days, the video was positioned at page 1 on 7th position. Topics: anyone can works with internet marketing; internet marketing it’s not an easy job; there is no easy money in internet marketing. The link building practice we will advocate in the next chapter will use a small amount of outreach for “base links,” and a much larger proportion using established link building networks. Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built slowly over time. While it is fairly easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine's algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine's criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links, or automatically generated pages whose sole purpose is to provide inbound links to websites. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely. Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL's). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query. You can get some really nice results with this method. And as a bonus, your map will be fully responsive. The content has a “corporate”, impersonal tone.
